Plagiarism Policy
Manuscripts submitted to Episteme: Jurnal Kajian Mahasiswa will be checked for plagiarism using recommended tools, such as Turnitin plagiarism detection tools. Episteme: Jurnal Kajian Mahasiswa will immediately reject any manuscripts found to contain plagiarism or self-plagiarism.
Episteme: Jurnal Kajian Mahasiswa aims to ensure that all authors are careful and adhere to international standards for academic integrity, particularly regarding plagiarism issues. The plagiarism rate must be below 25%.
Plagiarism occurs when an author takes ideas, information, or words from another source without giving proper credit to the original source. Even if unintentional, plagiarism remains a serious academic violation and is unacceptable in international academic publishing.
When an author studies specific information (such as names, dates, places, statistical figures, or other detailed information) from a particular source, a citation must be provided. (This is excused only in cases of common knowledge, where the data is available in more than five sources or is widely known, such as the fact that Indonesia is the largest Muslim country in terms of population).
When an author takes ideas from another writer, a citation is still required even if the author further develops the idea. This could include ideas on how to interpret data, which methodology to use, or what conclusions to draw. It may also involve ideas about broad developments in a field or general information. Whatever the type of idea, the author must cite the source. In cases where the author develops the idea further, the original source should still be cited first, and then in the following sentence, the further developed idea can be explained.
When an author takes words from another writer, both a citation and quotation marks must be used. Whenever four or more consecutive words are identical to those in the source the author has read, quotation marks must be used to indicate the use of the original words from another writer; citation alone is no longer sufficient.
Episteme: Jurnal Kajian Mahasiswa takes academic integrity very seriously, and editors have the right to retract the acceptance of manuscripts that violate any of the above standards.
