Abstract

Muhammad Baqir Al-Sadr is one of the most influential contemporary Islamic economic thinkers of the 20th century. Through his monumental work Iqtisaduna, Al-Sadr not only criticized the economic systems of capitalism and socialism, but also formulated a conceptual framework for Islamic economics that stands independently, systematically, and is based on the values of revelation. This article aims to examine in depth the economic thought of Muhammad Baqir Al-Sadr by examining its philosophical foundations, basic principles of Islamic economics, criticism of the modern economic system, and its relevance in the contemporary economic context. This research uses a literature study method with a descriptive-analytical approach to Al-Sadr's main works and contemporary Islamic economic literature. The results of the study indicate that Al-Sadr's thought offers an alternative paradigm that emphasizes social justice, balance between the individual and society, and the integration of moral and spiritual values in economic activities, which remains relevant to address the problems of inequality and the current global economic crisis.
